Major League Wiffle

>> Jun 21, 2008

My friends and I have been playing wiffle ball every summer for forever. This is one summer past time that I will never be too old for. I could play all day.

Mean Joe Green provided the RBIs...

...and Brandon supplied the laughs.

My team won 5-3, but not because of me because I only got one hit. But I did get the save!

Later, we went to the Ascension Festival where I took cliche festival photos. My mom thought it was weird taking my camera there. I really hate the term "creeper," but whatever. I just like pretty pictures sometimes.
She is going to have to get used to my camera being on me at all times. She said, "but you aren't in school right now...."

Really, that was the only reason to go, because the festival is always lame every single year and my friends and I all leave after 10 minutes and find something else to do. We should really just give up on it ever being exciting. We saw Get Smart later, and it was surprisingly really pretty good.

Hello family, friends and whoever else may read this. The school year is finally over and it has been a wonderful year. I got to stay in Athens instead of transferring, got my first photojournalism class under my belt, I'm headed to Scotland this summer, I've got an internship lined up for next spring, and met many new friends. I couldn't have asked for a better start to this journey. This career has opened so many doors and I have had an absolute blast these last 2 quarters. I can't wait for next year, but until then, here is my portfolio up to this point. Click on the slideshow to see the larger versions of the images. Thanks for looking.

Old Photos

Was rummaging through the hard drive earlier and found a few old photos from a while ago before I had even thought about trying to do this as a career. I kinda like em.

Here are some more frames from the little league fields for my last assignment of the quarter, sports feature. The light was a little more tasty this time around.

Photoshop

>> Jun 2, 2008

This quarter, I am taking a Photoshop class (because it is required). Outside of simple toning, I knew very little about the program before this class. They are kind of teaching us mostly stuff that will be of little use to me as a photojournalist (such as "how to remove that pole from the background") and would get me fired if I ever tried to use those "tools." I wish they had a separate class for PJ majors in which they taught us all how to tone really well. Maybe I'll drop that in the suggestion box.

These 3 images down below were for creative assignments we had in the class. The first one is supposed to represent imagination, the second is an illustration for the Washboard Music Festival in Logan, Ohio, and the last one is for identity theft. It's fun to play around in Photoshop. I just basically press a bunch of buttons and hope it looks ok.

We also have to color correct a bunch of images as technical exercises and I think my teacher is on to me that I am color blind.
