Air Show

>> Sep 21, 2008

Headed out to Vinton County for a little air show to look for features on Sunday. It was a lot of harsh light and people didn't seem all that excited to be there. If the light was nicer, I would like these 2 frames a lot more.

It was a much more productive day for finding unique people and places for possible stories.

Minus The Action

>> Sep 20, 2008

Went to another high school football game on Friday. Ryan had to shoot the game for the Athens Messenger, so I tagged along. I spent the game walking around shooting everything but the action. It felt good.

Off to Jackson tomorrow for feature hunting at the Apple Festival.

Scotland Odds and Ends

>> Sep 8, 2008

I know a lot of my family and friends have probably seen these already when I showed them my book, but for the people I don't see as often (if you're reading this), here are some more photos from Scotland.

These 2 are from a small story I did on the Burry Man of South Queensferry. It's 900 year old tradition where a man from the town covers himself in burrs and marches throughout the town the entire day. The tradition is thought to have been started in hopes that the burrs would ward off evil spirits.

These next 3 are from my essay on the Highland Games. I kinda dig these for their graphic qualities.

And these last 2 are from a short story I did on some salmon net fisherman on the River Tweed.

Regularly scheduled programming from Athens will resume shortly.
